What is DexterPay?

DexterPay is an app, available in the App Store and on Google Play, that allows laundry customers to pay for their laundry and track cycle progress via their smartphone or mobile device.

What device do I need to use DexterPay?

DexterPay is compatible with Apple and Android devices with the latest available on the App Store or Google Play.

Can I use DexterPay in any laundromat?

No, look for the DexterPay logo inside of the laundry. DexterPay will only function in laundries that support the system. It is designed to work exclusively with Dexter Laundry equipment. If your local laundromat is equipped with Dexter Laundry washers or dryers, ask if they have DexterPay installed.

How do I create a DexterPay account?

To create a DexterPay account, you will first need to download the DexterPay app from the App Store or Google Play. Once you’ve downloaded the app, you will be asked to register for an account. DexterPay will send a confirmation to the email address provided, simply follow the instructions on that email to complete your account set-up.

How do I pay for my laundry?

After you’ve created an account, using DexterPay is easy.

Step 1: Launch the DexterPay app and enter your location number. The location number can be found on posters and signs inside the laundromat.

Step 2: Select the machine you would like to start. This is done by entering the machine number which can be found on the DexterPay sticker on the front of the machine.

Step 3: Select the cycle and options you would like.

Step 4: After the location, machine, and cycle are selected, you will be shown a summary of your transaction and prompted to “Pay Now”. On this screen you can select a previously stored payment method or enter a new payment method. Select “Pay Now”.

Step 5: At this point, DexterPay will process your payment and the machine will display “Press Start”.

Step 6: Press the green start on the machine.

How do I track cycle progress?

You can track the estimated time remaining for every cycle by selecting the washer icon on the bottom of the app. If you allow notifications, you can also receive updates on your cycle status.

What types of payment does DexterPay support?

DexterPay supports all major credit cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

How do I cancel a transaction?

Transactions can be canceled anytime before pressing start on the machine. If you do not press start within 15 minutes of selecting Pay Now, the payment will automatically be canceled.

Do I have to load funds on to my DexterPay account?

No, DexterPay is a Pay-As-You-Go model. Unlike other laundry payment methods, you do not need to pre-load funds on an account.

Why do I have to press start after finishing my selections?

Physically pressing start allows you to check the load and ensure the machine is started safely.

Is my payment information secure?

All payment information is managed and secured by a third-party payment processing company. The information is not stored directly within the app and is not accessible by the location owner.

What else should I know?

Please review the terms of service for the use of this app. This will include a description of how DexterPay bundles transactions, handles preauthorization amounts, overdraft charges, and minimum fees.

Can I view past transactions?

Yes, you can view transactions from the past 30 days by selecting the Account tab (the person icon at the bottom of the app) and then selecting View Transaction History option. This will bundle all transactions from a 24-hour period.

Can I view authorization amounts at a laundromat?

Next to the location number in the DexterPay app, select the info icon to display the laundromat’s set authorization amounts. After the first purchase of the day, your bank will place a hold on your account for the initial authorization amount. If your spending exceeds the reauthorization amount, your bank will place an additional hold on the reauthorization amount. Any unused funds will be released, but this may take 5 business days.

How do I delete a payment method?

On an Apple device, select Edit and the delete icon next to the payment method you would like to delete. Confirm deletion.

On an Android device, hold and drag the payment method to the right. The bar will turn red, and a trash icon will appear. Confirm deletion.

How do I change my default payment method?

To change your default payment method, you go through the normal steps to make a purchase, then in the Pay Now screen, select Change Payment Method. Select your new card and hit Pay Now. After making a purchase, it will default to your new payment method.

How do I delete my DexterPay account?

We’re sorry to see you go. Please note, deleting your account will permanently remove your account and cannot be recovered. To delete your account, you will need to launch the DexterPay app and select the Account tab (the person icon at the bottom of the app). Select the Delete Account button at the bottom of the Account screen. A delete message will appear, select the Next button at the bottom of the screen to continue with account deletion. You will then be prompted to enter your password and select the Delete Account button. Upon a successful password entry, your account will be successfully deleted. If you ever want to re-signup for DexterPay, you will be required to create a new account.
